pretty proof

So again you did that thing to me

I was sure could not occur

I was proud and made

Of solid iron gates

Until you wore me down.

So I am a pile of dirty leaf

Of a colour no one sees

Now I’m tired and made

Of flaky pastry cakes

And you have let me down.

But if it weren’t for you

I’d have no way to truth.

I’d still be lying

Through my tears.

And if it weren’t for me

You’d have no pretty proof

Of a girl you’re yet to meet.
