Grace

Here is the name they would have once called out to their first child.

Now it’s clear with time they’ve fallen, Oh, once-favoured love!

Yes, he’s fallen so far from their Grace that she can’t care.

See all this dust and loathing here – and all that future-fear?

He will not cannot dare not know now any of her habit;

Any of that certain stuff which leads her far from where

She knows he’s longed to say “I’m home”; she’s felt him yearn for there.

He’s still so far from sacred places; still so fearful of them

Now there’s naught that he can show; they’ve no more knowing stares.
